Dr. Manish Panwar

Dr. Manish Panwar is a historian specializing in Modern Indian history, with a particular focus on the social and cultural accounts of colonial times in India. He completed his graduation in history from Ramjas College and went on to earn his Master’s and Ph.D. in Modern Indian history from the University of Delhi. His Ph.D. research concentrated on the cultural and entertainment history of colonial Delhi. During his doctoral studies, Dr. Panwar received the Junior Research Fellowship from the Indian Council of Historical Research, which supported his extensive research work. He visited several notable libraries and archives, including the National Library in Kolkata, the State Archives of Uttar Pradesh in Lucknow and Allahabad, the Delhi State Archives, the National Archives of India, and the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library in Delhi. In addition to his Ph.D. research, Dr. Panwar has working experience with the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) on various research projects focusing on Environment and Sustainable Development. He has also taught at the University of Delhi’s Ramlal Anand College and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University in Sonipat before joining IILM. Dr. Panwar’s scholarly interests include cultural, environmental, and contemporary history. He is currently working on a book and is an avid reader of Hindi and Urdu literature. His hobbies include traveling, writing poems, and cooking. He also has a keen interest in theatre, films, and folk music from different regions.
