For eligibility, applicants must have completed the 10+2 level in humanities, science, or commerce with a minimum aggregate score of 50% from recognized boards. The admission process evaluates various aspects, including personal statements, academic performance, faculty interviews.

The curriculum spans foundational journalism courses and electives from both the IILM Department of Communication and other departments at IILM. It covers print, audio-visual, broadcast and convergence media, research, writing, and content creation in over three years, with mandatory internships and culminates in the fourth year with either a written thesis or a media product across genres.

The programme structure includes departmental electives offered by IILM’s Department of Communication faculty to enhance advanced journalistic skills and explore pertinent media issues. Additionally, cross-listed electives from diverse schools broaden students perspectives on topics like politics, globalisation, and social justice.

The BA (Hons.) in Journalism Media Studies programme at IILM’s Department of Communication is crafted to establish a solid foundation in journalism and related skills like photography, graphics and animation.
