B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering with specialisation in VLSI is a four year, undergraduate programme offered by the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering. This specialisation deals with design and analysis of tiny yet powerful electronic chips, crucial for today’s compact gadgets and smart tech. In this specialisation students will learn about digital system design, semiconductor device physics, microprocessors, microcontrollers, designing, encoding and simulating various microelectronics circuits. With technology advancing, there is a high demand for this specialisation especially in the smartphone and computing component industry. VLSI students have a bright future, with roles in circuit designs, chip design, electronics software development and product development profiles.

Candidate must have passed 10+2 level examination or its equivalent from any recognized Board / University; securing minimum 50% (45% for SC/ST/ Reserve candidates) MARKS in required subject combination (two compulsories (Physics & Mathematics) & one optional (Chemistry/ Bio- Technology / Biology / Technical Vocational subject)) taken together. The candidate is essentially required to pass without any grace marks.
The course structure is designed keeping in mind the latest & future trends of industry worldwide. In 1st year fundamental concepts of Electronics & Communication Engineering is introduced to students which includes basic courses like Basic Electrical Engineering, Basic Electronics Engineering, Programming with C, Introduction to Python Programming and other Basic Science & Engineering Courses. From second year onwards we start our core courses and emphasize on electronic circuit designing and its components, various theorems and biasing techniques are taught. Also courses like Signal & Systems, Digital Systems, Micro Processors & Controllers with rigorous lab work is scheduled. Specialization electives come in 4th semester where students will choose his course according to the specialization. 3rd and 4th year onwards advance core & electives courses of ECE & VLSI is offered like Internet of Things, Introduction to Microfabrication, Nano Electronics, Organic Electronics, Quantum Computing, Computer Aided Design for VLSI and other courses. Students have to complete internships at the end of each year, which are evaluated in the next semester.
