Dr. Aswani RS, Associate Dean of the School of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences at IILM Greater Noida, is a leading scholar renowned for her interdisciplinary expertise at the crossroads of security, strategy, and environment. She holds a PhD and M.Phil from the University of Kerala, focusing on the Geopolitics of the Indo-Pacific, and a Master’s in Political Science from the University of Hyderabad. Her scholarly work is profoundly anchored in the geostrategic aspects of international relations, such as non-traditional security threats, non-state actors, and strategic alliances.
Dr. Aswani’s research works and projects, published extensively in Scopus and WoS journals, demonstrate her analytical prowess in the geopolitics of climate change and energy transition. Her role as a South Asian Futures Fellow in 2023, where she conducted a month-long residency in Sri Lanka to explore climate cooperation possibilities between India and Sri Lanka, is a testament to her dedication to innovative, cross-border research. In 2024, she was invited to Australia as a Special Defence Visitor to examine security relations within the QUAD framework. She received invitations from the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam in 2023 and 2022 to participate in the South China Sea Conference and the 10th Ocean Dialogue, respectively, to discuss emerging maritime security challenges in the South China Sea.
Aswani is the recipient of various awards such as the Academic Excellence Award- UPES (2022), Excellence in Journalism- Press Club Trivandrum (2015) and Best Dissertation Award, TV Paul, McGill University, Canada (2014).
