Cognitive psychology is the branch of psychology that focuses on understanding how people perceive, think, and remember information. It explores the intricate processes involved in mental activities such as problem-solving, decision-making, language comprehension, and attention. By examining cognitive processes through experimental methods and theoretical frameworks, cognitive psychologists seek to uncover the underlying mechanisms that govern human cognition. This field is fundamental in informing various aspects of human behavior, from everyday tasks to complex problem-solving skills, and contributes significantly to advancements in education, technology, and mental health interventions.

Organizational behaviour focuses on better understanding the day-to-day dynamics along with development of people management techniques and practices through better understanding and application of psychological theories. The students can get employed at organizations in the human resource management and health and well-being of professionals.

The focus of applied psychology will be on enhancing mental health awareness, developing a better person-environment fit and building resilience for effective coping and promoting well-being & better quality of life. The students can engage with research centres and also work with eminent NGOs.

Clinical Psychology focuses on equipping the students with professional skills and seamlessly apply the theoretical knowledge. The students will be equipped with skills of assessment, diagnosis, counselling and therapeutic interventions in clinical situations. The students can get to associated with hospitals and clinical sets.

Counselling psychology specialization will focus on equipping the learners to be able to apply the knowledge and skills of assessment, diagnosis, counselling and therapeutic interventions for varied counselling settings. Counselling today is an essential part of well-being and they can take up professional role of counsellors in corporates as well. They can get into advocacy of health and well-being.

Criminal psychology specialization focuses on studying the human behaviour in criminal domain. The focus will be understanding and enabling behavioural change and acceptance in the society. The students can work with rehabilitation centres and prisons for well-being of inmates and integrating the convicts back to normalcy.

Rehabilitation psychology will focus on studying the broad spectrum of disabilities being physical and psychological. The idea is to enable individual and family to better integrate in the society and enabling change and rehabilitation in the society. The students will be able to work with different age groups that need rehabilitation.

Multidisciplinary Approach and Industry Exposure
BA Psychology / BSc. Psychology programmes is designed to provide a well-rounded education that prepares students for all aspects of the professional world. As part of the curriculum students are exposed to the experiential learning through internship, field trips, psychology lab and project work that they do during their master programme.
At IILM University we have developed strong ties with professionals and leading companies across industries, which enables students to gain valuable insights and exposure through guest lectures, internships, and other industry interactions. To implement this, IILM has hired a Professor of Practice, a psychotherapist, and a researcher who on a weekly basis trains students on counseling skills and research through regularly held guest lectures and interactions with the students. This helps students stay up-to-date with the latest trends and practices in the business world and prepares them well for successful careers. For industry exposure, we have tied ups with the following institutes and centers where our students have interned such as VIMHANS (Mental Health Hospital, Delhi), IHBAS (Mental Health and Neurosciences Research Institute, Delhi) Synapsis Neuropsychiatry Clinic (Psychiatrist & Clinical Psychologist, Delhi), Mindlogs Psychological Services. Noida (Existential Psychotherapy, Research Training & Corporate Training), Snehi Foundation, Delhi, WE AVEC U (Psychological testing) Noida, NIEPD (National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities, Delhi)

  • For BA (Hons) Psychology, candidates are generally required to have completed their higher secondary education (10+2) or equivalent with a minimum aggregate score of 50%
  • For B.Sc. (Hons) Psychology, similar to the BA (Hons) in Psychology, candidates usually need to have completed their 10+2 education from a recognized board or institution, attaining a minimum aggregate score of 50%

Multidisciplinary Approach:
The Department of Psychology at IILM is aligned with the new education policy in terms of specific goals and directives of the policy. Our curriculum emphasizes in holistic and interdisciplinary learning by collaborating with fields such as Law, Management, social sciences and Journalism. The students engage in critical thinking, have experiential learning,witness evidence and application based teaching methods to enhance their professional skills as ethical mental health practitioners and researchers of the field. We also incorporated industrybased exposure by hiring Professors of Practice and hold regular visits to hospitals, therapeutic centers, and conducting community outreach by students.
The duration of the UG programme is 4 years or 8 semesters. Students who desire to undergo a 3-year UG Programme will be allowed to exit after completion of the 3rd year completing 6 semesters. If a student wants to leave after the completion of the first or second year, the student will be given a UG Certificate or UG Diploma, respectively, provided they secure the prescribed number of credits. Students who exit with a UG certificate or UG diploma are permitted to re-enter within three years and complete the degree programme.
