Mr. Sumit is an experienced practitioner-academic with close to 23 years in the financial services industry, followed by three years in academia. His areas of expertise include marketing and managing financial products and services, credit underwriting, monitoring and recovery, insolvency and bankruptcy, policy-making, and regulatory compliance.
A Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers and an IICA Certified Independent Director, Sumit is also a member of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA), INSOL, and the Institute of Directors (IOD). He holds an MBA from FMS Delhi and is actively pursuing various professional and academic programs.
During his tenure of about 30 months at O.P. Jindal Global University, Sumit served as Program Coordinator for the online MBA program. As Associate Dean, he played a key role in organizing several CXO-level distinguished lectures and managing Industry Guest Lectures.
His research interests include corporate decline, turnaround management, stakeholder management, and behavioral ethics. Sumit has presented papers at national and international conferences and workshops, and he received a grant from the Journal of Management Studies to attend a PDW at the University of Florida.
Sumit’s teaching interests cover areas such as Decline and Turnaround Management, Crisis Management, Change Management, Organizational Design and Business Transformation, Business Ethics, Marketing of Financial Services, Commercial Bank Management, Insurance Management, and Credit Analysis.
Looking ahead, Sumit aims to bridge the gap between industry and academia by enhancing student career readiness through the Office of Career Services, Office of Executive Education, and the Office of Industry Interface. He also plans to contribute as a consultant, process advisor, and insolvency professional to revitalize declining firms.
