Dr. Saurabh Shanu is a distinguished expert in computational science and wildlife conservation with over 12 years of diverse experience spanning industry, research institutions, and academia. Holding a PhD focused on machine intelligence for wildlife corridors, an M.Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Neural Networks, and a B.Tech in Computer Science, he began his career as a Software Engineer at Capgemini India Pvt. Ltd., transitioned to training professionals at the Wildlife Institute of India on ecological computational tools, and advanced as Assistant Professor (Selection Grade) at UPES from 2016 to 2025 before joining IILM. His interdisciplinary research integrates AI, complex network analysis, Extended Reality (AR/VR), and ecological modeling, yielding patented frameworks for patrol optimization, collaborations on India’s Tiger Report 2018 and Leopard Report 2020, and numerous publications in high-impact journals like Ecological Informatics and Sustainability, alongside grants from WII, NTCA, and DST for projects on wildlife patrols, entrepreneurship, and conservation in Gangotri National Park. In teaching, he delivers courses on AI, Data Structures, Algorithms, Game Theory, and immersive technologies using Unity, while innovating products like ANIMETER for remote monitoring, AWC for camera trap species segregation, and Compilers.
