Dr. Nayantara Kotoky is an Associate Professor in the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at the School of Computer Science and Engineering, having joined the institute in August 2025. She specializes in Machine Learning, with interdisciplinary research spanning Public Policy, Cognitive Neuroscience, and Psychology. Her work focuses on leveraging machine learning to extract actionable insights that inform effective and evidence-based public policies. Her doctoral research applied machine learning techniques to identify amendment scopes in the Indian Right to Information Act, 2005, reflecting her commitment to socially impactful research.
Prior to her current role, Dr. Kotoky served as Assistant Professor (Senior Scale) at UPES, Dehradun, and as Assistant Professor at Pandit Deendayal Energy University, Gujarat. She was also an ERCIM Postdoctoral Fellow at the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering, Stuttgart, Germany, where she contributed to the “Applied Neurocognitive Systems” research team.
An accomplished scholar, she is a recipient of the prestigious ERCIM fellowship, ACM-W scholarship, and the Grace Hopper Celebration India scholarship. Dr. Kotoky has delivered invited talks at national forums and actively contributes to the academic community as a reviewer and session chair at international conferences.
