Dr. Duraivadivel Prabakaran is an accomplished sustainable agriculture expert and academic leader currently serving as Assistant Professor of Biotechnology at IILM University, Greater Noida. As Assistant Professor of Biotechnology at IILM University, Dr. Duraivadivel leads research-driven academic initiatives at the intersection of biotechnology and sustainable agriculture. His responsibilities encompass curriculum design,
laboratory supervision, student mentorship, and pioneering research projects that translate cutting-edge biotechnological concepts into practical agricultural solutions. He is dedicated to fostering innovation and scientific inquiry among students while developing competent professionals capable of addressing global climate agricultural challenges.
Dr. Duraivadivel earned his PhD and completed early postdoctoral research in area of sustainable agriculture at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. His doctoral research explored the microbial community dynamics associated with Jeevamrutha (JA), a traditional Indian biodynamic liquid formulation widely used in organic farming, and its potential to improve soil health.
Dr. Duraivadivel is deeply committed to bridging scientific research with practical farm-level implementation through extensive collaboration with farmers from various socioeconomic backgrounds, integrating traditional agricultural knowledge with modern scientific practices. He actively designs and conducts stakeholder training programs and engages with environmental organizations to promote sustainable farming methodologies and soil conservation techniques.
His research vision focuses on advancing biotech-integrated sustainable agriculture through soil health restoration, development of biofertilizers and biopesticide alternatives, high-value crop development, circular agriculture applications, and climate-resilient farming practices that ensure long-term land productivity while creating economically viable opportunities for farming communities.
