Dr. Kushal Mazumder is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics, School of Basic and Applied Sciences, IILM University, Greater Noida. He earned his Ph.D. in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore, where his research focused on the multifunctional applications of topological insulator materials (Bi2Se3). Prior to joining IILM University, he held postdoctoral positions at Jain University, Bengaluru, and SRM University, Chennai, working extensively on the synthesis and characterization of two-dimensional (2D) van der Waals heterostructures and quantum materials.
His research expertise lies in the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and hydrothermal growth of 2D materials such as MoS2, WS2, and their Janus variants for applications in electrocatalysis, energy storage, and quantum devices. Dr. Mazumder has a strong interest in low-temperature magneto-transport, spintronics, and excitonic physics in twisted heterostructures. He has authored several research papers in reputed journals and recently co-authored a book on Two-Dimensional Quantum Materials published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing.
At IILM University, Dr. Mazumder is committed to fostering advanced research in quantum materials and nanoscience, while actively engaging students in experimental and device-oriented physics. Beyond research, he is passionate about scientific outreach and collaborative innovation in emerging materials science.
