Dr. Sandeep Chatterjee is the Pro Vice-Chancellor of IILM University, Greater Noida, a position he assumed on February 3, 2025. With over 32 years of experience in higher education and administration, he has held key leadership roles, including Pro Vice-Chancellor at D. Y. Patil International University, Pune, and Registrar at prestigious Higher Educational Institutions such as the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru University Delhi, and Tata Institute of Social Sciences Mumbai.
Dr. Chatterjee holds an M.Sc. in Physics (with Electronics) from Agra University, Agra and a Ph.D. in Science (Physics) from Vidyasagar University, specializing in condensed matter physics. His research interests include ferroelectric materials, semiconductor technology, and large-time charge retention batteries or fuel cells, with publications in reputed Scopus-indexed Journals such as Physica Status Solidi (a) -Applied Research, Journal of Materials Science - Material Electron, Journal of Materials Science Letters and Pramana - Journal of Physics, etc. He is a Life Member of Material Research Society of India (MRSI), IISc Bangalore.
A seasoned academic administrator, Dr. Chatterjee has contributed significantly to governance reforms, automation of academic processes, statutory compliances, accreditation, and strategic planning in higher education. His expertise in policy implementation, faculty development, support to young learners and industry-academia collaboration has been instrumental in transforming the academic systems worked with. In the teaching-learning ecosystem which is becoming more technology based, he is committed to fostering innovation, inclusivity, and excellence in the academic entities. Presently he is contributing to planning and strategic development of the university, academic programme in public policy, and support towards accreditation and various national and international rankings.
