4) Wind Energy Scenario in India: A Review

Abstract – Wind energy is one of the fastest growing new generation technologies, and this pace of growth is likely to continue for several coming years. The future of wind energy for electric power is extremely bright and there is no doubt that in the renewable energy sector, wind power would play a predominant role in adding to the grid, clean and non-polluting energy to a substantial extent. In recent years, there is a strong trend towards generation of wind power across the globe in geographically suitable areas with a more or less stable wind velocity. Wind energy is a clean and eco-friendly energy source and increasingly accepted as a major complementary energy source for securing a sustainable and clean energy future in India. The Indian government has aimed to fully utilize the abundant resources of this energy, which India has. The official assessment shows this country has potential to generate over 100,000 MW of wind energy. Till May 2014, generation capacity of 21,268.3 MW has been created through wind, which places India in the fifth place globally. This paper provides a detailed description of indian wind energy industry and discusses several developments which accelerated its growth. The paper presents current status, major achievements and future of wind energy in India.

5) Big Data and Hadoop: An Overview

Abstract – Big data came into existence when the traditional relational database systems were not able to handle the unstructured data (weblogs, videos, photos, social updates, human behaviour) generated today by organization, social media, or from any other data generating source. This data is so big in volume and diverse in variety or moving with such velocity is called Big data. Analysing Big Data is a challenging task as it involves large distributed file systems which should be fault tolerant, flexible and scalable. The technologies used by big data application to handle the massive data are Hadoop, Map Reduce, Apache Hive, No SQL and HPCC. These technologies handle massive amount of data in MB, PB, YB, ZB, KB and TB. Analysing Big Data is a challenging task as it involves large distributed file systems which should be fault tolerant, flexible and scalable. Map Reduce is widely been used for the efficient analysis of Big Data. Map Reduce is a programming model and an associated implementation for processing and generating large data sets. Users specify a map function that processes a key/value pair to generate a set of intermediate key/value pairs, and a reduce function that merges all intermediate values associated with the same intermediate key.

6) Study of Carbon Credits Earned by a Solar Energy Park in Different Conditions

Abstract – Carbon credit is a generic term for any tradable certificate or permit representing the right to emit one tonne of carbon dioxide or the mass of another greenhouse gas with a carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e) to one tonne of carbon dioxide. The purpose of this project is to design a solar energy system of carbon credit earning by establishing the Solar Energy Park (SEP) . The solar energy park consists of a mud house, various hybrid photovoltaic thermal (PV/T) systems with standalone photovoltaic (SAPV) power supply. The analysis is based on experimental and theoretical annual performance of each system. The life cycle cost analysis is based on the annual performance and carbon credit earning of the Solar Energy Park. The computation of the carbon credit earned by the Solar Energy Park as per the norms, climate condition has also been through. Estimation of carbon credits, which will accrue to the nation. if one such Solar Energy Park is built in each district/ block/Village in the country, has also been evaluated. It has been observed that the cost of power generated by the SAPV system will be cheaper than the cost of power generated by conventional systems. It may be due to the improved technology and the economy of scale.

7) A CONCISE REVIEW ON MAXIMUM POWER POINT TRACKERS IN SOLAR PV SYSTEMS

Abstract – As a non conventional energy sources, PV installations are being increasingly employed in many applications such as power generation. But a major challenge in using PV source is to tackle its non-linear output characteristics which vary with temperature and solar insolation. To achieve maximum power, Maximum Power Point Tracker(MPPT) is used. MPPT are important to get an energy efficient solar photovoltaic system. There exist many automatic MPP Trackers for improving the energy efficiency and stability of solar photovoltaic system. Main differences in these techniques are based on their design, sensor requirement, speed, effectiveness, cost and their implementation. These existing techniques have their own pros and cons. This paper presents a concise analysis of few important MPPT techniques.

8) Implementation of All Optical XOR Gate

Abstract – This paper describes the designing of photonic circuit of an all optical XOR gate using all optical NOR gate. In fact optical NOR gate is designed using all optical components and then incorporated in the proposed design. The behaviour of optical NOR gate is similar to its digital variant. The XOR circuit discussed here compares the two inputs, gives a high output for different inputs and a low output for same inputs. The different components used in designing this photonic circuits are 2×2 optical coupler, optical multiplexer and the nonlinearities of Semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) like cross gain modulation and cross phase modulation which are regarded as a drawback if SOA is used as an amplifier. The performance of this circuit is evaluated on the basis of parameters like extinction ratio and quality factor. This circuit is simulated for NRZ modulation scheme with different pulse type like on-off, on-off exponential, on-off ramp and raised cosine.

9) Digitalization and Automation in Global SCM- A Study of New Opportunities and Challenges

Abstract – The Global Supply Chain and Logistics Industry is undergoing an expeditious and sharp transformational trend change. Over a period of time we have seen this sector evolving from its elementary image to pro technology and innovation image. This was the reason, why recently even developing economies such as India and China got no other option to adopt new technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Big Data Analytics, Machine learning, automated guidance vehicular system, IoT etc. It is believed that role of technology and innovation will play a decisive role in defining the fate of Global Supply chain and Logistics Industry in coming years. Today, even small businesses in Supply Chain and Logistics Industry are willing to utilize the services of advance technologies to remain efficient, productive, reliable and competitive in market while delivering maximum satisfaction to their customers. A global best practise has become a core topic of discussions for the today’s corporate world.
